BELIEFS

NAME

This body of Christians shall be named the Grace Community Church (hereinafter called “The Church”). The church shall be an autonomous body.

BELIEFS

We believe in the truths of the Christian revelation including:

  • The unity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead. (Genesis 1:2, 26; Deuteronomy 6:4; John 1:1, 2; John 5:17, 22, 23; John 14:25, 26; John 16:7, 27, 28; Philippians 2:6; Hebrews 1:1-3, 8)
  • The incarnation, the sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father and the personal return in glory of Jesus Christ. (Galatians 4:4; Matthew 1:20-25; Romans 4:22-25, 8:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews. 10:12-14; 1 Corinthians 15:20; Acts 1:9; John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
  • The agency of the Holy Spirit in the conversion of sinners, the sanctification of believers and the ministry of the church. (John 3:5-8, 16:8-11; Titus 3:4-7; 2 Thessalonians 2:13, 14; 1 Peter 1:2)
  • The universal sinfulness and guilt of man, and that salvation is only by the grace of God through repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:38; Romans 4:4, 5; Romans 5:1; Galatians 2:16)
  • The Bible as the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • The priesthood of all believers. (1 Peter 2:5; 1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:9, 5:10, 20:6)

ORDINANCES

The Church shall observe the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (hereinafter defined and described) as appointed by the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Baptism shall be by immersion in water of those who profess repentance towards God, faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, and whose lives give evidence of the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit.
  • The Lord’s Supper shall be a regular memorial and thanksgiving feast in which the Lord’s death is set forth by means of bread and wine for the confirmation of the faith of believers, for their spiritual nourishment and growth in Christ, for the renewal of their consecration and for a sign and seal of their communion with Christ and each other.
