How We Might Live Like the Patriarchs Today!

The patriarchs remind us that walking with God requires faith, humility, and trust. Abraham obeyed God’s call, Isaac and Jacob demonstrated God’s work in the mundane and the messy situations, and Joseph trusted God’s plan through trials and triumphs.

As for us today, to walk with God in practical terms, it is important we set aside regular time for the word of God, prayer, and reflections. Establishing a daily devotional practice allows us to connect with God and seek his guidance and wisdom. Choose a time and place where you can focus without distractions, and use resources like daily devotional apps, like the one we have in our Church WhatsApp Forum, to enrich your time with God.

Practice gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful tool for nurturing our walk with God. Take time each day to acknowledge and thank God for his blessings, both big and small. Maintain a grateful spirit and make it a habit to express gratitude in your prayers. Recognizing God’s goodness and faithfulness in your life will help you and me, to develop a grateful heart and cultivate a deeper appreciation for his presence.

But remember, learning to walk with God is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey, as we have seen with these and other Bible characters who walked with God. So, it requires intentionality, commitment, and a genuine desire to deepen our relationship with him.

By committing to daily devotional practice, engaging in worship, practicing gratitude, seeking spiritual guidance, and embracing God’s forgiveness, we can nurture our walk with God and experience his presence in our lives. And it’s all by his grace!

So, as you allow the Holy Spirit to guide you toward greater faith, know that Jesus is always with you, guiding and leading you every step of the way. My prayer is that we may all walk in the power of his Spirit and his word, trusting that God’s promises never fail.
